A Message from the Executive Director
FOLA celebrates 20 years as the second national Friends of Library body worldwide.
Advocacy has never been more important in changing lives, improving services and valuing the contribution libraries make in our community.
Friends groups - the citizens who support libraries with their time, money and talents are a worldwide movement, and the important contribution they make is in evidence in places like the great New York Public Library, amongst the countless institutions across that country.
In Australia, some outstanding leadership in recent years can be seen with Friends at - Balmain (NSW), Coventry Library (SA), and Port Macquarie (NSW).
As library needs become more complex and more acute, our supporters will become a more valued and integral part of a successful public library, in particular. For 20 years, FOLA has been a uniting force for Friends in Australia.
